Read BusinessWeek or NewsWeek, Foreign Affairs, Harvard International Review or Harper's. Get the Guardian Weekly, if you insist on having something weekly on hand. They'll all have similar editorial slants, but none (to my mind) so bad as the Economist, when it decides to tell us all what it thinks about something. I don't care how popular it was on Robben Island, I honestly hold that the Economist - as a publication of record - is crap. I don’t at all agree with the idea of single-sourced information:

The Economist is like the Wall Street Journal: fine for “news”, but only with serious filtering of their bias. Read BusinessWeek or NewsWeek, Foreign Affairs, Harvard International Review or Harper’s. Get the Guardian Weekly, if you insist on having something weekly on hand.
